It seems to be working that I do a Gettin’ Fit Update every two weeks rather than one. I’m good with that. Are you? Good. The weekend comes and goes so fast and before I know it its half way through the next week before I find time to sit down and write about it.
The last two weeks have been In. Sane. I almost titled this post “Excuses Excuses” because I had plenty of them for not working out or watching what I put into my mouth as well as I should have. Nonetheless, I slipped up for about 4 days and “fell of the wagon” if you will, in that I didnt workout for the first time in 8 weeks and I wasn’t very mindful of my diet. But by day 4 of this, I felt I’d had enough and forced myself to get back on track, which is a brand new concept for me. In the past, I would have just stayed off the wagon and walked. But having you to keep me accountable is, in large part, responsible for getting my booty back in gear.
So life just seemed to “happen” over the last few weeks…
- My Oldest got sick. Like, really really sick and eventually ended up in the ER for IV fluids. He got some sort of upper GI infection and lost 10 lbs. (hmmm…there’s a thought…I kid.) He missed a week of school, but thanks the gods, he’s finally feeling better now and almost back to his teenager self.
- Hubs and I went to San Diego last weekend for a wedding and ate and sat and ate and sat and had wedding cake (we did dance a lot, though).
- I got slammed with work over the last few weeks. Im noticing a perfect and direct positive correlation between my work load and my fitness regime. One goes up, the other goes down. (But I did just hire a virtual assistant. Yay! I love her. She is my saint. I’m sure you’ll hear more about her later…)
- We had out of town guests this weekend. So fun to be with them. So fun to eat with them. ;)
I repeated week 7 of C25K. Even missing just one run I felt like I could use another week of 25 minutes straight running under my belt. And I may repeat again depending on how my run goes tomorrow. There’s no hurry, really. Im hoping to do a 5k in October when its not eleven billion degrees outside.
I purchased and started Jillian’s 30 Day Shred. I usually shy away from videos, but the more I read about it the more I wanted to give it a try. And I love it. And it kicks my keester every time and I’m only doing level 1 (there are 3). Its a good regimen in conjunction with C25K.
I’m struggling a bit here. When I’m busy and rushed, meals dont always involve the chopped veggies and healthier options. My willpower overall is stronger (I skipped my Middlest’s delicious chocolate chip cookies a few nights ago…) but I have to work on not getting caught up in the tyranny of the urgent to where I dont take the time needed to make healthy choices…especially at dinner. That is my focus this week.
What I Learned This Week:
I’ve pretty much bored you with all the details already, but I also learned about plateaus. Before the crazy of the last two weeks started, I was getting really discouraged that I was working really hard and being really diligent but the scale refused to move. Then I read this post from Mama Laughlin and it helped me so much. Just to learn that its not just me going crazy over here and why one might plateau was so so helpful. Check it out if you have gotten frustrated with a plateau (which I venture to guess you have).
Pounds Lost This Week:
Inches Lost This Week:
Waist: .25 in.
Hips: .25 in.
(That’s good, I guess…)
