I love to up-cycle. This weekend I took a free tote I got at Blissdom from GoGo Squeez (Sorry GoGo Squeez…hope you dont mind. Still love your applesauce.
) and altered it with some old tee shirts and fabric remnants.
I really didn’t follow any hard and fast project tutorial. It was inspired by a combination of different ideas or tutorials I found on Pinterest. Here are a few of them…
Ruffled Tote by itworksforbobi.com
Ruffed Shirt by therosehome.blogspot.com
Rolled Fabric Flower by mysparkle.blogspot.com
What I basically did was cut the strips to 2 in. x 12 in. so that I could gather them. I didnt do any hemming and my cuts weren’t perfect, but I did use a rotary cutter and mat to help make them as even as possible. I then stitched a loose straight stitch down the top third of the strip and gathered it until it was the width of the front panel of the tote. I just stitched them on to the tote, overlapping slightly.
For the rosettes, I rolled the fabric following the instructions on the tutorial above. Super easy. I tacked them on the tote with fabric glue.
So thanks for the instructions and inspiration, ladies. Once again, rack one up for Pinterest!

What?!? Why do I never think of such fun things? Can you please move next door?
It’s beautiful!!
