I was blessed enough to have a father who made me feel valuable.
He was there when I needed him (still is), was a living example of honesty, kindness, godliness and working hard. Not that he is without his flaws, but then again, I’ve never heard him claim perfection.
This is what he should be receiving in the mail any day now…

What is your favorite memory of Dad and what was special about it?
-My favorite memory of my Dad is when we took a day trip to the coast with my son Ethan for his 1st seafood eating experience. My Dad, who is a true Mainer thru and thru, gave Ethan a lesson on how to crack open lobster and clams, clean them and most importantly dip it all in drawn butter and eat it! I’ll always remember the two of them, sitting out in the sun, elbows on the red checkered covered picnic table, the smell of salt air and the big smiles of delight on their faces. It was such a rite of passage for Ethan and I’m so glad my Dad was there to be a part of it.

One funny moment with my Dad was when I was learning how to drive. Usually, my mom took me out to practice driving. She was the type that would start warning me about stop signs that were a block away. Teaching me how to drive was driving her to hysterics, so she handed the job over to my dad.
I could tell right that my dad was a different sort of teacher when after I cross a road he calmly said, “There was a stop sign back there. Next time you’ll want to stop for it.”
