UPDATE: The winner of this giveaway is #39, Kat!
Last Mother’s Day, this is what I woke up to…
Oh yes…in bed! Glorious. So you can imagine expectations are high again this year. Ahem.
Mother’s Day is just around the corner on May 8th. And I’m not going to lie…I totally dig Mother’s Day. What mom doesn’t? When the people in your life choose to spoil you in some way in an effort to say “thanks for whipping our boogies and cleaning our toilets and making us breakfast every morning”…it makes it a pretty special thing.
But showing mom how much you care doesn’t have to be big or expensive or extravagant. Here are some simple ideas for making mom feel extra special this year (with a nice little giveaway at the end!)!
1. Breakfast in Bed – It may seem a small thing, but trust me…mom will eat it up! (pun intended…)
2. Live Plant – Flowers are nice…but live plants are even better and enjoyed for years to come.
3. Camera – I don’t think I know one mom who doesn’t want to capture memories of her growing children. There are so many good cameras now a days on the market, that you don’t have to spend a fortune for a quality one. My favorites are the Nikon COOLPIX L24 14 MP and the Canon PowerShot SD1300IS 12.1 MP. Both are small enough for mom to carry in her purse but take good, quality pictures.
6. Gift in Honor - Really, when I look at how completely blessed and rich I truly am, there is nothing I lack or long for. And sometimes, knowing there’s pretty much nothing (except maybe a yacht within the realms of my economic class) we cant go out and buy if we really wanted it, gift giving becomes a little bit of a challenge. I love to give gifts in honor through World Vision. It truly is a gift to all involved. Give everything from a goat to a chicken to clean water to education.
7. Jewelry – Not diamonds and rubies…I’ll take meaningful, personalized jewelry over precious stones any day. Love these wooden bracelets from Paloma’s Nest
and these leather bracelets and sterling silver swinging lockets from Snapfish.
8. Photo Journal – Another way to help mom record her special day and the entire year is with a personalized journal by Paper Coterie. The journal features a photo and several custom designs she’ll flip for.
9. Girl’s Night Out – For me, there never seems to be enough time for some good old fashion girl time with my best girlfriends. Make it easy on mom and line up babysitting, make dinner for the troops, maybe even send her off with a gift card to her favorite hangout to give her a night off.
10. Gift of Clean – Nothing says I love you more than clean toilets. Ok, maybe that’s just me, since I’m pretty practical when it comes to gifts…I don’t mind being gifted blenders and vacuum cleaners and things that make my life easier. And I bet neither will mom with a nice gift card from Merry Maids.
So even if it’s a last minute Photo greeting card or a meal out, celebrate mom this Mother’s Day and put a little love in whatever you do.
WIN IT! Thanks to the generosity of my friends at Snapfish, one lucky reader will win a $50 credit to use as they please at Snapfish. Buy something special for mom (cough…Husbands!…cough) or for yourself (Moms!). To earn an entry, do any or all of the following:
